Over the past 26 years, Peter Kellett has worked as a registered nurse, nurse educator and manager in both provincial and federal (FNIHB) health systems in three Canadian provinces and one U.S. State in the areas of medical/surgical care, emergency care, primary health care, community health, and First Nations health. Peter is an Assistant Professor the nursing faculty in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Lethbridge. Supervised by Dr, Jean Harrowing and Dr. Peter Kellett, Evan’s master’s thesis research examined the health care choices of Ghanaian adult immigrants to Alberta. A qualitative exploratory descriptive approach was applied to explore the relevant problems faced by this immigrant population, and how decision dynamics related to cultural beliefs, health status, and social determinants influence health choices.
Emmanuel Ato Desbordes B.A. (Honours) Political Science and the Study of Religion, M.Sc. (Health Sciences Graduate Student). Completed a master’s thesis entitled “Exploring shifting Power Dynamics within Intimate Partnerships among African Immigrants to Canada” in January 2021 which examined the gender and other intersectional factors that impact the power-dynamics between couples following migration to Canada.

Zohreh Hosseinpour M.Sc.N. RN, M.Sc. Student Health Sciences. Zohreh joined the GAPSinHealth team in January 2021 . Her MSc thesis compared the professional confidence of nursing students an clinical nurses in Iran, and she is currently the copy editor and executive director at the Evidence Based Care Journal, published by Mashhad Universiy of Medical Sciences. She plans to study Muslim immigrant women’s mental health.
Daniel Agyapong B.Sc. (Honours) Integrated Science Education, M.Sc. (Health Sciences) Graduate Student – beginning in September 2020). Daniel plans to engage in research in the area of African immigrant men’s mental health
